WHY SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST?
Many people experience difficulties related to change or loss in their lives, or at times feel overwhelmed by life' s many challenges.
Seeking assistance from a trained psychologist can help gain insight into the situation and learn strategies to manage the distress more effectively.
Therapy can be a challenging experience, yet incredibly empowering as one learns how to manage difficulties and create a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
Sigmund Freud
“Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength.”
ABOUT LISA

Cert III & IV in Fitness
Clinical Psychologist
My approach is to work collaboratively with my clients to assist them to discover what they really want out of life and to gain freedom from what holds them back. I enjoy assisting clients to gain meaning from the past, an ability to live in the present and a sense of hope for the future. I focus on assisting people to develop a more robust sense of self and a stronger identity of self, regardless of the clinical presenting issue.
I draw from a variety of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Schema Therapy and Interpersonal Therapy. I like to tailor my approach to the needs of my clients and use the approach that best fits the person.
As well as being a Clinical Psychologist, I am also a qualified personal trainer and fitness coach (Cert III & IV in Fitness).
I have a strong interest in physical activity and nutrition and the associated benefits with mental health. I regularly attend professional development in these areas and they will typically form part of my discussion with clients.
Over my career I have worked in community health, public health, universities and in private practice. I am most skilled in working with individuals presenting with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, adjustment disorders and life transitions, health related problems, grief and loss, psychotic disorders and trauma.

William James
"The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind."

I am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia, which is a component of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The consultation fee is $230. This is lower than the Australian Psychological Society’s recommended fee of $267 for a 45-60 minute consultation. Fees are payable on the day at the time of consultation.
You do not need a referral to attend, however many clients are eligible to obtain a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from their GP or a referral from their Psychiatrist. With a MHCP/referral you will receive a Medicare rebate of $129.55 for up to 20 sessions per calendar year. I am able to process the rebate for you at the end of your appointment.
If you have private health insurance that includes psychological counselling in extras cover, you may be eligible for a partial rebate. It is recommended that you contact your individual insurance provider for further information about your individual coverage.
